Before I Discuss What Will Work To Grow Your MLM Business Let's Take A Look At What Doesn't Work

Have you ever tried any one or more of these "typical" MLM prospecting techniques?

  Making a list of your family and friends and getting them to try your MLM products or take a look at your business opportunity
       
  Advertising your opportunity in the business opportunity section of your local newspaper
     
  Handing out flyers at the mall
     
  Talking to anyone who comes within 3 feet of you about the benefits of consuming your MLM products or owning their own home based business
     
  Buying expensive business opportunity seeker leads


C'mon...you can admit it...you've tried these things.  In fact, maybe you're even doing one or more of these techniques right now.  Don't worry.  I'm going to share with you exactly what you can do starting right now to grow your network marketing business without resorting to these mostly useless and ineffective MLM techniques.

The 4 Step MLM Prospecting Formula that I'm going to share with you is a time-tested marketing approach that can be used to market any product or service you choose. 

Warning: This 4 Step MLM Prospecting Formula is going to seem so brain-dead simple that you might brush it off as too basic...and therefore not give it its due respect. This is a mistake that will cost you a lot of money!  The fact that the 4 step process is simple should not diminish its ultimate value to you as an network marketer and independent business owner.



Okay...enough talk.  Here we go.

"Introducing The 4 Step MLM Prospecting Formula..."

Step # 1:  Understand the benefits of what you're marketing

This is really important.  If you don't get this part right you can just pack it up and go home.

You need to understand the benefits that are gained from consuming your product. 

Lets take a look at some of the benefits of consuming Product "X" Juice:

  • anti aging properties
  • reduces sugar cravings
  • increases energy levels
  • promotes peaceful sleep
  • improves mental clarity
  • reduces harmful effects of stress
  • increases libido
  • lowers cholesterol

Now, what you need to do is focus on one particular benefit, like "increases energy levels", and move to step # 2.

Step # 2: Identify the target audience that's looking to get the benefit that your product delivers

I really like this step because it involves a bit of creative thinking and "detective" work.  Here's what you do...

Remember, our benefit is a solution to those who are looking to increase their energy levels because consuming Product "X" Juice can actually help the body function more efficiently thereby increasing ones level of energy throughout the day. This is a solution for people who feel tired and sluggish and can't seem to get through the day without an "artificial" pick-me-up. 

So naturally our target audience are people who are looking for just that benefit.  They're tired of being tired all the time.  They have kids and jobs and they desperately need to keep up with what's going on around them.

Maybe they've tried natural and/or artificial stimulants as a solution to their problem and they aren't getting the benefit they've been looking for or maybe they are...but with some nasty side effects.

Let's stop for a moment...

It wouldn't make sense to try to market your "solution" to someone who doesn't have a problem with a lack of energy, right?  That wouldn't work as well.  If you try to do that you're going to end up having to do a lot of convincing...not good.  It's much easier to market this product to those who are actively looking for a way to gain more energy.

Good MLM prospecting techniques would have you asking yourself the following questions:

  1. Where can I find people who are suffering from a lack of energy and looking for a solution to that problem?
  2. What kind of products might they have they purchased in the past?
  3. When these people go online to look for information to help them solve their problem what kind of keywords and keyword phrases do they type into the search engine?
  4. Are there any infomercials that offer a product they may have already inquired about?

Why are you asking these questions?

Because doing so puts you in your prospects mindset.  It will also help you get your marketing message in front of your target audience.  You can't get in front of your audience if you don't know where they are.

Step # 3: Craft a marketing message that captures your target audience's attention and interest

Your marketing message can come in many forms such as:

  • MLM prospecting script
  • classified ad in a newspaper or magazine
  • website copy
  • radio ad
  • in person conversation
  • etc...

Whatever vehicle(s) you use to convey your marketing message it must be crafted in such a way that it successfully does the following 3 things:

  1. Gets your prospect's attention
  2. Captures your prospect's interest
  3. Gets your prospect to take the action you want them to take

Your marketing message also needs to establish in the mind of your prospect that you are offering a real solution to the problems that they're trying to solve

Once you have crafted the right marketing message for your target audience you need to move to step # 4.

Step # 4:  Use the tools of communication to get your marketing message in front of your target audience

What do I mean by "tools of communication"?

The following are some popular tools of communication:

  • the telephone
  • the Internet
  • radio
  • television
  • newspapers
  • magazines
  • the mail

When it comes to MLM prospecting I like to use the telephone and the Internet.  Why?  Because they're relatively inexpensive to use.  Keep in mind that you need to think about your new recruits who probably don't want to spend the money it takes to run a good radio or television ad campaign so you should try to keep your methods affordable.

What you need to do in your MLM business is master the use of the Telephone, the Internet and Ad Copy (newspapers, magazines and the mail) to get your marketing message in front of as many people in your target audience as you can, as fast as you can.
